Climate change is a global issue that requires urgent action. The Earth's rising temperatures, caused by the increasing levels of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere, are already having a range of damaging effects, including more frequent and severe natural disasters, loss of biodiversity, food crisis and many more.

However, the world's growing population is also leading to an increasing demand for energy. This situation puts us in the difficult position of needing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while also ensuring energy security, which has made it a top priority for governments and businesses in every sector.

Businesses have a key role to play in tackling climate change. As major sources of greenhouse gas emissions, businesses can reduce their own emissions and help drive the transition to a low-carbon economy. It not only helps to protect the environment, but it can also provide businesses with a range of benefits on the ecosystem and society. At TBS, we are committed to doing our part to address the challenges of climate change and to help build a more sustainable future for all.

We take sustainability to new heights - integrating respect for the environment, care for our people, and responsible business conduct. We are firmly tapping into green business and clean energy. We are focused on pursuing green business and clean energy solutions in Indonesia.

In November 2022, TBS launched "Towards A Better Society 2030" as our framework to becoming a carbon-neutral company by 2030. The series of goals serves as our sustainability blueprint.

The Thriving Environment is one of the three dimensions of the TBS 2030 framework to enable transformation of a better society. This includes working on:

  1. Carbon Neutral organization: We’re exploring different options to reduce and offset our GHG emissions.
  2. Increasing efficiency across our operations as part of our strategy to achieve Carbon Neutral goal and make our business more competitive. We implement sustainable business practice and continuous improvement to reach more efficient operations.
  3. Reforestation and conservation within our portfolio to restore natural habitats.
  4. Ensuring that the impacts of our projects on biodiversity are carefully assessed on all new commissioned projects
  5. Advancing good water stewardship: We're working to advance good water stewardship across all of our operations, to ensure that we're using this vital resource in a sustainable way.

"On the journey to becoming a carbon neutral company, we will be transparent and disclose our progress annually, as we did last year. We will explore ways to lower emissions within our operations and businesses to the highest standard." - Triana Krisandini, Sustainability Advisor TBS
